Open Position:

Shredders Devo Head Coach

Role: To provide and maintain a healthy, positive and fun experience and relationship with racing for all participants of the Shredders Devo program.

Accountable to: Coach Coordinator

Collaborates w/: Executive Director, Program Coordinator, MarketingAdministrator, and all Devo coaches.

Compensation: The Devo Head Coach position is a contracted position with a 5-month term (April, May, June, September, October), to be renewed for an annual contract on 1 January. Compensation will depend on experience (range is $30-$60 per hour). The term begins on 1 April and runs through 31 December. This position may or may not be renewed at the end of the term at the discretion of the Saratoga Shredders Board of Directors.

Contractor Desired Qualifications: PMBIA/BICP, NICA, Wilderness First Aid Certifications (or the acceptable equivalent of)

The Shredders Devo program is a middle and high school youth development mountain bike program, based in Saratoga Springs. There are ~20 kids in the program, most of whom will race in the spring and summer months. The aim of Shredders Devo is to provide and maintain a healthy, positive and fun experience and relationship with training and racing for those kids that are committed to a higher volume and intensity of training.

Responsibilities:

  1. Practice Session and Race Management

    • Planning and executing weekly practice sessions (3 practices per week, 6 hours total) during Fall and Spring seasons

    • Attending and providing support/coaching at all NICA races during the spring race season.

  2. Coaching and Team Development

    • Overseeing the staffing of all training sessions for Devo practices

    • Providing comprehensive support and guidance to all Devo coaches, ensuring a cohesive and effective team.

  3. Communication and coordination

    • Ensuring adherence to all Shredders coaching guidelines

    • Primary point of contact for Devo parents and providing them and the coaching staff with weekly plans; reporting regularly to Coach Coordinator

  4. Community Engagement

    • Building relationships and camaraderie with other youth mountain biking teams and participating in community-building events and activities.

    • Assisting in developing informational materials for prospective parents, coaches, and sponsors.
