Inspiration from An Awesome Shredders Mentor: Jessie Miller!

Jessie and her daughter Stella are looking cool amongst the snow and race nets at Gore!

Shredders mentor and Gore ski patroller, Jessie Miller, completed the National Ski Patrol’s Certified program in a comprehensive exam at Killington this March. Certified is extremely challenging, and Jessie is the first Gore patroller to successfully complete the program – which includes modules in skiing, toboggan handling, first aid, lift evacuation, low-angle rescue, avalanche, and outdoor risk management. Certified candidates have a three-year time frame to complete all modules, and Jessie had the additional distinction of completing them all in a single year.

As a strong momma of little shredders Claire and Stella Miller, Jessie loves to lead by example and show her girls there are many ways to be strong. We can be strong by being a rocking skier and mountain biker and doing hard things. We can also be strong by being vulnerable and asking for what we need. Professor and author Brene Brown uses the phrase “daring greatly,” and says: “Daring greatly means the courage to be vulnerable. It means to show up and be seen. To ask for what you need. To talk about how you’re feeling. To have the hard conversations.”

So dear little shredders, may you go into the spring daring greatly and rocking it in life and on your bikes!
